Jergens Wins Ohio Governor’s “E” Award for Excellence in Exporting

July 28, 2006–On June 21, Jergens, Inc. was named a winner of the 2006 Governor’s Excellence in Exporting Award (“E” Award). Governor Bob Taft presented the award to Jergens President Jack Schron, along with Larry Murray, International Sales Manager, and Sean Stapulionis, General Manager. This award is presented annually to Ohio companies and organizations of all sizes that demonstrate outstanding performance in exporting and recognize exporting as a vital component of the state’s economy.

“We are proud to be a member of the select group of 29 outstanding businesses in the state this year,” said Schron. Since 1991, more than 300 companies have received the award.

Established in 1985, the “E” Award recognizes Ohio companies that have increased sales volume through exports, increased Ohio-based employment as a direct result of export activity, or developed and implemented a strategy to expand their international sales. Ohio is currently the seventh-largest exporting state and the only state to increase exports every year since 1998.

At the ceremony, Governor Taft said, “To succeed in today’s global economy, Ohio businesses must look beyond our nation’s borders and explore opportunities in foreign markets. These [award-winning] companies are growing and creating jobs here in Ohio as a result of aggressively selling their products throughout the world.”
